Rest & Restore – For Friday 12-115pm

This 75-minute session will include a Restorative yoga practice and a customized

guided meditation (Yoga Nidra) for Savasana. Each session will have a customized

sequence and theme and will utilize playlist, sound or healing bowls to support the

theme.

A restorative yoga practice uses relaxation poses and props; one can relax the body to

move toward balance and harmony. The poses and props create a supportive

environment for your body, mind and spirit to rest and rejuvenate. Restorative

sequences usually include the movement of the spine in all directions, inversions with

legs higher than the heart and poses that stimulate organs and energy meridians and

the use of breath work to stimulate and balance energy within the body.

This class is all levels; with some poses offering an overall benefit and others targeted

toward specific organs or limbs. Poses may be held from 5-15 minutes and

modifications will be developed to meet your personal needs. Restorative classes are

usually down on your mat or using a wall or props to support the body.

Restorative yoga has been proven beneficial for:

 Decrease stress, blood pressure and anxiety

 Assists with the management of fatigue

 Post major life challenges

 Recovery from illness or injury

YIN NIDRA

Yin 300hr

Yin Nidra is a practice that integrates Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra, aimed at

cultivating deep relaxation and greater inner presence. This state of

complete relaxation naturally induces a state of meditation, allowing your

attention to penetrate deeper and increasing the awareness of your

subconscious mind.

We will use Yin and/or Restorative yoga poses. Each week will have a

theme, focus on body, energy or season. Props are highly encouraged, and

each class will identify recommended props. Almost all poses are done on

the floor-perfect for active stretching and ending with chilling out in

Savasana. Sometimes classes will use wall, chair or special props to

support the yin pose effectively. Each week will feature a guided meditation

during your Savasana (nap time!)

A 2-hr class combining the best of rest – a combination of restorative yoga and Divine

Sleep Yoga Nidra ©. Class starts with settling into the present moment using breath and

intention setting and allowing your body ease into prop-supported poses. At the

midpoint, you are guided to a resting position that suits you (again using props for

comfort) and you sink into a Divine Sleep © is healing practice and meditation that

releases your body, breath and spirit into a thematic journey of the soul.

No experience required. This is yoga for anyone and everyone. You are allowed to wear

comfortable clothes and dress in layers to ensure that you stay warm and at ease

during the meditation.

Bitsy is trained in Divine Sleep© developed by Jennifer Reis, E-RYT 500 and has

practiced this gentle guided meditation technique for the past 12 years. Bitsy writes her

own scripts using core Divine Sleep methods and techniques and modifications to

Jennifer Reis’ baseline scripts.
